Mothers Day!

I was fortunate to cook mothers day dinner this year as I don't normally have time. This year was almost no exception as the house renovations took over my life.

Regardless I managed to make a mess of my kitchen. This will be a picture heavy post.

On the menu was;
- Confit Ocean Trout, horseradish cream, fennel and parsley infused oil
- Seared Scallop, purée sunchoke, herbs, pickled onions, truffle and parsley oil
- Quarlet of salads

This was the most extensive use of sous vide for cooking I've had to do in a while and it turned out very well.

What the hell did you get you're self into Con?

So my wife and I have been in our house for approximately 3 years and since the purchase of the property we have renovated the inside of the house, making it as homely as possible. Renovations include a new open plan living area attached to a kitchen and an updated bathroom. Also some new windows, polished floors and a few coats of paint. We have been pretty proud of our accomplishment to far.

With the new arrival of a third to our budding family, the wife, myself and our two dogs, Lucky and Bruno; we are about to make the next big change. As you can see the builders are just putting on the façade of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) sheets which will be the canvas of three coats of render and a few coast of paint.

Whilst not cheap, this renovation has been in on the list for a long time and will add a much needed facelift to our lovely home and modernise its look and feel.

With the completion of this facelift a number of DIY projects will result. These include;

1. A new deck and awning, which will all be constructed in composite wood

2. A new landscape garden which will include raised vegetable garden beds and cowra walkways and a special patch for grass for the dogs

3. A new garden shed that will replace the current shed

4. A carport

I hope to use this blog to show you guys the progress and all the mistakes that one can make when doing DIY projects around the family home.

In addition ill be cooking up a storm and may elect to post some pictures and recipes.
